    Common Events

    2010 we organized two General Assemblies and participate to the Council of Europe "Florence+10" celebrations. The dense frequence of activities regarding the European Landscape Conference faced many smaller NGOs to problems to cover the travel costs and to access the different events.

    Landscape and Agriculture

    This will be maybe the most important issue for the next years in Europe. The reform of the Common Agriculture Policy of the EU and of the funding system of agriculture will have an enormous impact on our landscape. This development will be pushed even further by the policy on renewable energy in Europe. If landscape is not taken into consideration the consequences for the development of our landscapes will be extremely negative – and so far landscape is not an issue or just a minor one.

    Grid operators and environmental organisations team up to promote sustainable modernisation of electricity grids

    CIVILSCAPE used the 2nd Grid Conference to raise awareness for landscape. With a poster CIVILSCAPE informed about the on-going EnergyScape project. To support a successful implementation of the European Grid Declaration, signed by a coalition of Europe’s 29 largest environmental NGOs and grid operators in 2011, the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI) launches the European Grid Report. The report publishes over 80 selected practical experiences by different RGI members across Europe. Today at the 2nd European Grid Conference in Brussels, jointly organised by RGI and Smart Energy for Europe Platform (SEFEP), the report and the extended European Grid Declaration on Transparency and Public Participation were presented to European Commissioner for Energy Günther H. Oettinger and to European Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potočnik.

    fostering the Czech debate on EnergyScapes

    The Vice-President of CIVILSCAPE, Dr. Gerhard Ermischer, could participate at the annual meeting of the Czech Garden Society and Czech Landscape Architects. About 300 participants, member of the society, professional landsdcape architects, members of the academic world and students were the interested audience for a special "international" block in Luhacovice on 22 November 2012.

    EnergyScapes:
    Managing Change in Scotland´s Landscape

    The Conference was to celebrate the 50 years anniversary of the first landscape conference in Scotland and was organized by the Scottish branch of the UK Landscape Society. It was a high ranking event with the presence of the relevant minster of the Scottish Regional Government, MPs of the Scottish Regional Parliament and representatives of all relevant governmental Organizations and NGOs from the fields of nature conservation and heritage management.
